Dr. Shin completed his residency in Radiology (1995-1998) at the Asan Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea where he served as a Chief Resident. He subsequently completed two-year fellowship in Neuroradiology/Neurointervention and worked as a research professor in Interventional Radiology at the same institution. Dr. Shin is currently the Director of Interventional Radiology, Director of the Fellowship program and Professor at the Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine, which is the premier medical institution in South Korea.
He has a particular interest in embolization therapy, especially in gastrointestinal bleeding, lymphatic intevention, urinary tract bleeding, and postpartum hemorrhage and has many papers published in SCI indexed journals. Dr. Shin treats his patients with skill and compassion, often collaborating with other specialties to provide a comprehensive care.
Dr. Shin has actively engaged in research regarding various embolic materials and stents. His work has made significant contributions to the current understanding of the effects of metallic stents in the treatment of benign strictures, and the potential therapeutic strategies to prevent tissue hyperplasia and prolong stent patency.
